The department of anesthesiology with its interdisciplinary nature, plays an important
role serving as a mediator between the patient and the doctor performing the surgery. What this means, is that our
responsibilities are not confined to anesthesiology but they also covers areas such as the
treatment of post-surgical pain (postsurgical pain therapy), blood treatment and care (hemotherapy),
as well as hygiene, and surgical, quality and risk management.
Everyone who works in the anesthesiology practice sees him or herself as serving in a vital
two part role. They are both specialists working in a service oriented team for the care of
patients, as well as moderators and coordinators between patients and doctors and other teams at
the clinic Links vom Rhein.
